Anyone else celebrating their birthday in August? I celebrated mine (fashionably late 
) when I checked out the new food and spritz bar menu at The Allis Bar, which was recently named one of Chicago’s “ten hottest restaurants” of the moment by Chicago Magazine.
The Allis Bar is located on the ground floor of Soho House Chicago, in the West Loop. Boasting a sophisticated interior design featuring rich hues of wood and an expansive art collection, Allis is one of Chicago’s most instagrammable places and offers an immersive space for socializing complemented by a great selection of food and beverages. As stated on their website, “The Allis Bar is named after the family that commissioned the restaurant’s historic building in 1907 and also features bar and patio seating. While the space is open to the public, Soho House and Friends members receive special discounts and preferred reservations booking.”
We had lunch on the patio, enjoying perfect views of the hanging plants moving in the gentle breeze, and of the hustling and bustling of Chicago’s West Loop.
The amazing end-of-summer weather contributed to my enjoyment of Allis’ food and beverage menu, starting with the tender olives marinated in-house served with chewy-crispy focaccia, and the luscious milky burrata with cherry tomatoes and basil, beautifully accentuated by touches of chili flakes…
…and ending with the refreshing, beautiful cocktails, bubbly and enchanting.

For mains we had the pita stuffed with cauliflower, mozzarella and greens, and the salmon with asparagus and tarragon pesto. I wish I could have bottled the spicy aioli that came with the stuffed pita and take it home, lol – its combo with the tender, texturally pleasing cauliflower was amazing!
Meanwhile, the tarragon pesto on top of the salmon provided the perfect touch of herb-packed goodness, fine-tuned so as to complement the fish without overpowering it. I don’t know about you, but I have always found tarragon “tricky” to work with because its flavor is rather strong. This was not an issue here – the tarragon pesto was an excellent companion to the fish.
I was excited to learn Allis make their breads and sweets in-house every morning. All of the breads we tried were fantastic, and service was excellent, too. Learning that we were in a hurry our server Cid recommended we took some cookies and coffee to-go. I ate one of the cookies in the car – it was so fresh and chewy 
If you’re looking for dishes that capture seasonal flavors to perfection, then Allis’ new offerings are an excellent choice. Bursting with fresh deliciousness and vibrant creativity, these dishes have conquered my summer girl heart. Is there anything better than hanging on to summer through flavors and colors that celebrate the season? I don’t think there is
